Hello, beautiful souls. I normally would apologize for such an absence, but SO MUCH has happened that I don’t feel the need. Instead, I’m just gonna tell you what’s been going on. Let’s just say, it’s been a whirlwind.
Alright, so my birthday was very difficult for me. Almost everyone had forgotten me. Now, I don’t believe that I ask for much, but I didn’t expect to be an afterthought on my own birthday. Even some of my family had amnesia that day. It was kind of devastating to me. To top it off, my ex told me that he just chose not to say it. As you might expect, that was my last straw for that guy. My feelings were obliterated, and I just got really depressed. Luckily for me, my mentor and best friend helped me to stumble out of that session of depression. I don’t want to know where I would be without her.
For a short while, I also had a guinea pig. I’m not gonna get too deep into that because I realized that I wasn’t ready for a pet. I had to give her up before I started my next round of classes.
As I mentioned in the last paragraph, I was taking classes for my Bachelor’s degree. This semester didn’t go too well. One of my classes locked students out of their assignments, so I dropped that class after seeing that students were teaching each other in the comments section and emailing the professors practically every other day for them to unlock tests and assignments. With my other class, I barely passed. I put myself in a situation that had me distracted at the very end when I needed to focus the most. It was devastating, but it wasn’t the end of the world.
During all of this (and pretty much the entire time I’ve had this blog), I’ve been growing my natural hair. It has actually been going well. After purchasing a ton of different products to try, finding and watching YouTubers who have the same hair type as me, and trial and error (of course), I have managed to grow my hair quite a bit. (If I can shake off my pride and embarrassment, I might post some now and then pictures.)
In May, I was up for a promotion at my job. In late August, I found out that I got the promotion. I got it by the skin of my teeth, but I managed to actually do it. It was bittersweet. I wished that I would’ve done better, but I was also just grateful to get the promotion. Since then, I’ve been prepping for that promotion to actually come into effect. With that comes extensive training, tests, reading material, and job-related classes that I have to take. That’s what’s been taking up quite a bit of my time. On top of that, transitioning into a new year is always a hustle because there are things that have to be done before the holidays, and then there are even bigger things that happen as soon as the holidays are over.
Now that I’ve told you about the boring and difficult things, let’s dive into the highlights!
Anyone who knows me (if you don’t, we’ll get there), knows that I am a homebody. In an effort to be more social, I’ve been going out more. I’ve been to some gender reveal parties, some baby showers, and just party parties. I even went to see Daniel Caesar in concert. It was fantastic! I bought tickets to see Raphael Saadiq in January. In a nutshell, I’ve definitely been getting out more, and I’ve truly enjoyed it.
I’ve been working out and changing how I eat (except for the last two weeks. Fatigue has me off of my game, but I shall be back!). I have been eating a lot more salad and veggies. I even made spaghetti squash that was easy and delightful. I bought an air fryer, so of course, I’m loving that. Life has just been good on that part since around August. I haven’t seen a big change in myself, but I feel it. I feel good. I really do.
I’ve also expanded my horizons when it comes to my hobbies. I am thinking about recording some stuff. I’m not sure what yet, but it will span the ranges of video, music, and podcasting. I am going to sit down soon and write out what my topics will be. I’m really excited to see how that goes.
So there you have it. My life from August to November just passed me by. It was an adventure, to say the least. Now that things are in a relatively good place, I will be attempting to put more time into this blog. ( No promises!) I am really excited to share my upcoming adventures with you all.
Until next time, beautiful souls…
